THE FIRM AND OUR PHILOSOPHY

OUR APPROACH TO YOUR PROJECT

Since 1976, when Felty-Heinlen Architects and Planners, Inc., began providing professional architectural, planning, and design services in Mansfield, Ohio, the three principals: Melvin Felty, AIA, Bruce Heinlen, AIA, and David Cassell, have directed the firm in serving a broadening clientele. Churches, educational, commercial, criminal justice, institutional, industrial, community/public works, campgrounds, and historic preservation clients have sought out our firm for solutions to fill their needs.

Mr. David Aulger, Associate, and Mr. Dan Seitz, CPBD, Project Manager, have accepted leadership roles and together with our staff provide a wide variety of services and disciplines utilizing computer aided design and drafting. In addition, our talented staff of architects, designers, and draftsmen are proficient in three dimensional design and modeling.

FHA&P is currently licensed to practice architecture in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. We have also been privileged to provide design services for projects located in New York, and overseas in Japan.

We are committed to invest the necessary time to thoroughly understand your needs in order to design a facility that will meet those needs. We believe the users of a facility play an important roll in the design process and we actively encourage their involvement. Their input, along with our guidance will develop the needs and long term goals that we will mold into a functional, flexible, serviceable, attractive, and budget minded reality.

Creating a facility to meet your needs is demanding and time consuming and requires vision, planning, thoroughness, sensitivity, and an ability to listen. Felty-Heinlen Architects and Planners, Inc. has the professional people with those qualities that you can trust to your project.

We take pride in providing professional, responsive, and personal service to our clients. To that end, a Principal is assigned to each project from the initial client contact through the completion of construction in order to maintain clear communications between client, staff, consultants, and contractors. This assures that the owner’s initial needs and goals are maintained throughout the project.

The Principal partnering with you will be present at all programming, design review, and progress meetings. He is actively involved in the design process, oversees the development of the construction documents, and participates in the construction administration activities. Minutes of all meetings and construction field reports are forwarded to you for review.

The Principal-in-Charge meets regularly with the Project Architect, design team, production staff, and consultants to review project progress, schedule, and budget. Estimates of construction and project costs are issued for each phase of the project.

We directly involve our mechanical, electrical, civil, and other special consultant design team members in client progress and review meetings to explain options, special features, maintenance, needs, and other important aspects of equipment, materials and systems.

Development of the final punch list and follow-up inspection work is also performed by the Principal-in-Charge along with the Project Architect in order to assure initial design intent and client expectations have been met.

It does not matter if the project is large or small, or if full service or limited consultation is needed, our goal is to provide our clients with the most thorough, professional, and personal service possible – all the time.
